Community of St. Martin Statement on Racism

As an ecumenical Christian Community committed to non-violence we abhor the violence of racism and white supremacy and the recent killing of George Floyd and other Black, Indigenous and People of Color. The Community of St. Martin affirms the dignity of all people, and in particular, that Black lives matter.  We acknowledge that we live on land stolen from the Anishinaabe and Dakota people, that the lands we occupy are sacred, and that racism violates the dignity and rights of all people. We acknowledge our own complicity and commit ourselves to pursue justice and peace through active nonviolence in our communities, our cities, and our nation. We work with others to dismantle racism and white supremacy in all its personal, cultural, and institutional forms.
